Primrose Awning on Love your Garden

Enid and Robbie’s story on ITV’s Love your Garden last night was special. Having been close friends since 1945, they now live together and care for each other. Robbie’s deteriorating eyesight meant that she was unable to even go in their garden and, over time, the weeds took hold. As she’s also suffering from a type of skin cancer, it’s important that any design will have to include a lot of shaded space.

“I want to give them a garden that they can really enjoy together.”

Love your Garden planThe garden was carefully planned to minimise maintenance. The team fixed a dangerous slope and created a lawn-free space.

“It’s got that seaside feel to it.”

The idea of a fragrant flowerbed by the patio filled with chocolate, strawberry, and aniseed scented flowers was inspiring and definitely worth keeping in mind when planning to change a section in the garden. It’s not always just the looks that matter!

Primrose Awning on Love your Garden 2We were honoured to have been chosen to provide one of our half cassette awnings to help shade Robbie from the sun whilst still being able to enjoy her garden from the comfortable furniture set.

As it is electrically operated, it means that Enid can very easily open and close it. Plus the fabric blocks over 98% of harmful UV rays which is ideal for people with sensitive skin or skin conditions.

Sit down and relax!

Beautiful seating area with Primrose sail shade

Another week and another fantastic episode of ITV’s Love Your Garden to hit our screens. Last night we adored watching the inspiring Sabina Iqbal and her husband Asif get treated to a gorgeous garden makeover, featuring a pair of our very own shade sails! The couple were hugely deserving of the garden treatment, both active in doing outstanding charity work in the deaf community, as well as raising three small children.

The Iqbals’ huge garden was spacious but the couple lacked the time to make it into the relaxing space they deserved, so Alan Titchmarsh and his team totally transformed the area into a Bollywood-inspired paradise!

Features of the garden included a striking water feature centrepiece, plenty of space for the children to play in, and even an outdoor kitchen (we’re really jealous – that looked amazing!). The Indian theme meant bright jewel tones were the order of the day, and our vibrant orange Kookaburra shade sails looked fantastic above the comfortable seating area on the expansive deck.

“The perfect place for the family to throw the huge parties they love, or just kick back and relax in the shade”

Alan described the deck as “the perfect place for the family to throw the huge parties they love, or just kick back and relax in the shade”, and we couldn’t agree more.

We’re really glad that the family loved their well deserved garden makeover, and can’t wait to see the transformations in the rest of the series.

Primrose's tree seat appears on Love Your Garden

We know that our readers love their gardens, so were wondering how many of you tune into ITV’s Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh. Those watching last night (30th June 2015) must have seen our very own Liz Frances™ Tree Seat take centre stage of the beautifully designed garden! Positioned as a centerpiece around an old walnut tree, the tree seat certainly made an eye catching focal point as well as providing a great place to sit and take in the beautiful surroundings.

“Oh gosh. Gosh gosh gosh. That’s lovely”

The high quality teak garden furniture definitely grabbed Mr Titchmarsh’s attention, his first reaction simply being “Oh gosh. Gosh gosh gosh. That’s lovely”. Could we have had a better endorsement? The presenters were quick to praise the wood it was made from, noting the sturdy visible grain and the fact that it is from sustainable sources. At the end of the show, Alan Titchmarsh and the ecstatic owners of the garden sat together round the tree seat with glasses of champagne, relaxing and enjoying the newly beautified view.

We’re honoured that our seat was featured on the programme, and more than a little bit jealous of the Colquhoun family for their stunning new garden look. Let us know if it inspired you in the comments section below.

If you love our tree seat, you can check it out on our website here. We’ll be popping up on Love Your Garden throughout the series, so keep an eye out for Primrose products!
